“I live in a typical Indian male-dominated society where a woman must work hard to stand there ground and if you don’t then you won’t be recognized.”
-Shraddha Kadakia
As a daughter, as a sister, daughter-in-law and as a wife I have to make a lot of compromises in my personal life. For example there was one time when my friends use to plan for weekends fun trip but I made a choice of not to be a part of that because of my dedication towards my work. Yes I did sacrifice my happiness but I was happy to get my professional success. It took me years to build up my company and bring it to the position where it is today, it has given me name and made me stand on my feet in this male dominating photography field. But even after proving myself to the society that I am not less then any man a part of me is still struggling every day to prove it to the world. In our conservative society no matter how independent a woman is there is a point where she is left with no option but either to give in or to be blamed as a housebreaker. In our todays era everyone talks about woman empowerment and fighting against domestic violence but what about woman’s freedom.
Isn’t mental torture as painful as physical one?
In todays 21st century no matter however liberal a family is they still want a daughter in law who cooks, washes dishes, keeps her mouth shut and has to compromise on every given occasion and additionally go out and earn the money too. There is so much of contradiction in the statement itself one side you want a independent educated woman and other side you want to suppress her.
